Cut Up Arm

Cut Up Arm

The following images in the post are quite graphic and gory so if you don't like that sort of stuff then don't scroll down too much!
For this look i wanted to do some deep open cuts with lots of blood and this is what i came up with. The first two images are the make up without blood and the last one is with blood.
I started off by prepping the skin with alcohol to get any residue on the skin off so that the wax would stick better.
I then applied quite a thick and wide coat of DermoWax on to area i wanted the cuts to be with a spatula and blended the edges out. Once it was the right thickness and all the edges were blended out i cut out where i wanted my cuts to go. I used a thin spatula to cut the wax where i wanted them and then made them as wide as i wanted. I made the edges of the cuts quite messy because i wanted them to look like the skin was just cut open and it hadn't healed yet.
If you're wax isn't blending out very well into the skin then a good tip is to use a very small amount of moisturiser to blend it into the skin. I then used some foundation and concealer so make the wax look more skin like.
I then started to colour the cuts in with a variation of grease paints. I started with red inside the cuts and deepened it with blacks and darker reds. I then used a sponge and stippled some of the colours around the wound to make it look irritated.
Once i was happy with the way the colours were i started on the blood. In the first two pictures i haven't used that much blood. I used a cue tip and dabbed the fake blood in the inside of the wound and a little bit around it.
In the last picture i used a lot more blood to make it look like the wound just happened. I poured the blood into the wound and then let it drip down my arm.

New Favourite Products

My Favourite products at the moment!

For this post i am doing something slightly different. I'm going to be telling you about all the products i've been loving recently and tell you how well they've worked for me.
Who knows, after this you may want to check them out yourself!
Recently I took a little trip to Bristol and ended up picking up some new products that I really wanted to try. After hearing beauty guru's and bloggers rave amount some of these I had to check them out for my self to see what all the fuss was about!

Fist off is trusty old MAC. After hearing Lauren Curtis (http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXbQzhqSvgVZTUyi1T4AU3w) and Gabriella Rose (http://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9OBxOV1gHR8Qq5OJGDd41w) rave about this product on YouTube i knew that it would be worth trying!
This is the MAC Pro Longwear concealer (my shade is NW20), and it is by far the best concealer i have used. It is £15.50 which is a bit pricey for a concealer but in my opinion i think it is totally worth every penny!
It is really lightweight when you apply it but it is a full coverage concealer. I apply this under my eyes after i do my foundation, and on any blemishes i have, and it stays put all day and doesn't crease at all.

The next product is on the cheaper side. It is a cream eyeshadow and is the Maybelline Colour Tattoo in the shade 'Metallic Pomegranate'. This, for me, is by far the best cream eyeshadow i have used. I use this mostly as a eyeshadow base as it prolongs the life of my eyeshadow and makes the colour of eyeshadow more pigmented but you can also use them on their own.
These products are also great if you're in a rush and need a quick wash of colour on your eyelids. I recommend the colours 'On and On Bronze' and 'Pink Gold'. They give a really lovely natural colour that you can just sweep over your eye lids and you're good to go!
These 'Colour tattoos' come in 12 different shades from bright blues to neutral browns. They are £4.99 and you can get them in places such as Boots and Superdrug in the UK.

Last off is the product I'm most excited about! It is the Nars Highlighter in 'Albatross'. This product isn't something i would usually buy since it is pretty pricey (£21.50). This is another product that Lauren Curtis drew me into! I was on the lookout for a new highlighter for my little collection and thought i'd splurge a little this!
This highlighter is absolutely gorgeous, it is so pigmented so you only need a little bit which means it going to last a long time hopefully so i'm definitely getting what i paid for!
It gives the most lovely heathy glow look to your skin adding just the right amount of shimmer to your cheekbones.
It's a really hard product to explain the colour of! It looks white in real life in the packaging but it comes off with lovely gold shimmer particles in it which compliments my skin beautifully!
I strongly recommend this product if you're looking to splurge on a highlighter. It's defiantly worth the money!

Bruised and Battered

Bruised and Battered

If you're not a fan of blood and scars then look away now!
For this look i wanted to do something with a bruised eye and that kind of 'battered' look and this is what i came up with!
This is a really fun look to do and its really straight forward as well! Before you get into the makeup applying you're gonna want to find an image you can copy you're bruise from. All bruises look different depending on what stage they're in. Once you are happy with the image you have chosen then we're ready to get started!
You may wish to do you're base make up (foundation, concealer ect) before you start but as i was working on my younger sister who has lovely skin! I didn't feel the need to.
I started off with the black eye. This part is very easy. You're going to want a good eyeshadow palette with a range of matte purples, greys and yellows. You can also use grease paints for this which are very good, but at the time i just had eyeshadow to use. I started off with quite a violet shade of purple and popped that all over the lid, around the eye and under the eye and then blended it out. I then went in with some pinky shades of purple around the outside of the purple and blended that too. The key to this eye look is blending!! I built the colours up until they were the right shade I wanted.
Next for the more yellow/green shades. I used a greenish yellow on the outer rim of the bruise and then, you guessed it, blended it in! I deepened the inside of the eye area, around the nose, with some dark purples and grey shades. I then used a red liner on the lower lash line and smudges it out to create that swollen, irritated look. Once you have built up you're colours and you are happy with it then you're ready to move on.
For the gash on the forehead i used liquid latex. I outlined where i wanted my cut to be with a white eyeliner then started to build up my latex. For those who are not familiar with liquid latex it is a water based latex which you can build up to create various special effect looks. I applied a thin layer of liquid latex to my desired area and then waited for it to dry before applying another layer on top. You usually need quite a lot of coats for this as it is a very thin substance.
After you have built it up and you feel it is deep enough for you, you want to create that cut. I used tweezers for mine, cutting a thin line down the centre of the cut and thin pulling i apart until it was the width i wanted.
Now the tricky bit is done you can get down to detail. I also used the bruise effect around my cut by doing the exact same process I did to the eye but in a different area. I then filled my cut in with some red face paints/grease paint/eyeshadows, whatever you desire, until it was a colour I wanted. I applied some black face paint to the outer rim on the inside of the cut to add some more depth. I then added a small amount of fake blood to the area and smudged it in with a cue tip.
Nearly there!!
For the lip area I applied the same bruising effect but with a little less purple to the area. I then added some red lip liner to the bottom half of one side of the lip and added some fake blood on top of it. I also added some black liner in places that i wanted some more depth in the lips and then blend blend blend!

This may seem like quite a time consuming process but it is really simple and easy to do. Very good if you want to scare some people with a black eye!

Bite Mark Make up

Bite Mark Special Effect Make up

This one is not for the faint hearted and squeamish!
For this look i was inspired by 'Goldiestarling' on youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8opw4zE5y8)
I thought this was would be a fun look especially for halloween.
First you need to clean and prep the skin by cleaning it with alcohol.
I started off this look by drawing an outline of the teeth marks in white pencil eyeliner. Once i was happy with the shape i then went over it in red lip liner to define it and blended out the edges with a cue tip to soften it. The main part of this look is a product called Rigid Collodion which is a special effects product. You can get this online.
The Collodion is a clear liquid that you can build up on the skin which tightens and constricts and makes a really cool indent effect.
I applied about seven or eight coats of this, waiting for it to dry every time before i apply the next coat, to each of the tooth marks until it built up to the effect i wanted.
After the Collodion had dried, i used Dermowax around the the edge on the bite mark and built it up to create more depth to the wound. I blended out the edges with some moisturiser until it was the consistency that i wanted.
I then went in with different shades of red grease paints to the teeth marks and blended different shades in until it was the colour i desired. I then blended the colours out with a cue tip to make it look more realistic.
Now for my favourite bit!
I added venial blood to each individual bite mark to make it look like a fresh wound.

And voila! You are finished!
This look is really quick and easy especially for halloween to gross some people out!

Products used:
White pencil eyeliner
Red lip liner
Rigid Collodion
Dermowax
Any red face paint you want. (I chose grease paints as they are easier to blend)

Pop Art Make up

Pop Art Make up

For my first ever blog post i thought i would show some make up i have done before!
I am currently studying theatrical make up at college but i have been practising for quite a while!
For this make up i was inspired by pop art pictures. I watched some YouTube videos and thought i would try it out myself.
For this look i used my ever so patient younger sister as my model!
I used foundation, concealer and powder to create a flawless base and then got on to the fun part!
I started off with the eyes using a matte purple shade all over the lid up to the crease and then applied a thick line of winged black eyeliner
I then used the black liner in the crease and below the water line to create a larger eye which i then filled in with a white eyeliner and eye shadow over the top.
I then drew some fake lashes to the bottom and some false ones on the upper lash line.
I also used the black eyeliner for the eyebrows outlining them in that 'sad look'.
The black liner was also used to create the 3D effect to the face using it in the contours of the cheeks, around the hairline and jawline, around the corners of the nose and down the bridge of the nose.
I also outlined the lips with liner and then filled them in with a matte, bright pink lipstick.
I applied the dots with the end of a paint brush and used a basic white face paint
This process was quite time consuming but it is very effective!
I also added a small white shadow to the lips for a more 3D effect.
